Privacy notice
How Solicitors24 handles personal data. Last updated 7-10-2026.
Who we are
Solicitors24 (solicitors24.co.uk) is a directory of solicitors regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. We are the controller of the personal data described below. You can reach us at office@solicitors24.co.uk.
What we collect, why, and for how long
- Quote requests. Your name, email address, optional phone number, the place and type of matter and the answers you give. We use them to send your request to the firms you choose (no more than 3) and to email you about replies. Requests expire after 14 days without action and your personal details are removed 24 months after the request closes.
- Review invitations and reviews. A firm may give us a client's name and email address so we can invite a review; we send at most three emails, honour opt-outs, and remove those details after 24 months. A published review shows the display name the reviewer chose, their scores and their text. Reviews are published whether positive or negative, and firms cannot edit or remove them.
- Questions from the public. Your question, an optional display name and an optional email address (used only to tell you when the firm answers). Questions are checked by us before they reach a firm and are published only with the firm's answer. Your email address is removed 90 days after the question is answered or rejected.
- "What kind of solicitor do I need?" helper. The text you type. It is classified by an automated model (currently Cloudflare Workers AI) so we can point you to the right kind of solicitor, is never sent to a firm, and is deleted after 90 days. Please do not include names or other sensitive details.
- Firm accounts. A firm's staff sign in with their work email address by emailing a single-use link; we keep their name, email address and the firm they manage while the account exists. Sign-in links expire after 30 minutes and spent or expired links are deleted within a week.
- Technical and security data. Your IP address and browser signals are used to keep the site secure and to limit abuse (for example, daily rate limits and Cloudflare Turnstile bot checks). Rate-limit counters are deleted after 7 days. A log of the emails we send, which can include the address and message, is deleted after 90 days.
Our lawful bases are: providing the service you ask for (quote requests, questions, reviews, firm accounts); our legitimate interests in running a safe, accurate directory and preventing abuse; and compliance with legal obligations.
Information about firms and solicitors
Firm details come from the public register published by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and are refreshed regularly; we include data supplied by the SRA. Firms can claim their listing and add further information about themselves and their staff.
Who we share data with
- The firms you ask to hear from, when you send a quote request.
- Service providers acting for us: Cloudflare (hosting, security, bot checks and the AI classifier) and Resend (email delivery). Some pages load fonts from Google, and some firm pages embed a Google map, which means Google receives your IP address when you view them.
- Regulators and public authorities where the law requires it.
We do not sell personal data. Some providers process data outside the UK; where they do, they rely on recognised safeguards such as the UK addendum to standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
Cookies
We set a single cookie (s24_portal) when a firm signs in to the portal, to keep them signed in for up to 30 days. It is strictly necessary and is not used for tracking. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your personal data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email office@solicitors24.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change this notice we will update the date at the top of the page.
